Project Overview

This project was developed for Kronic, a cannabis company seeking promotional materials—specifically posters and stickers—for their most popular weed strains. The primary goal was to create a visual identity for each featured strain, focusing on mascot-style graphics that would boost brand recognition and audience retention.

The Challenge

Kronic’s top strains were popular by name but lacked strong visual representation. They needed a distinctive mascot or symbol to embody each strain, making it easier for customers to associate and remember them.

One of the strains they wanted to highlight was Gorilla Breath. The challenge was to design a character that could visually communicate the essence of the strain—its strength, intensity, and character—without relying heavily on text.

The Concept & Design

I developed three initial concepts for Gorilla Breath, and the client ultimately selected the orange gorilla design. This concept featured a bold, creative mascot that could stand on its own or with accompanying text.

  • Gorilla as a symbol: Chosen to represent the power and intensity of the strain.

  • Color scheme: The orange and brown palette was selected for its eye-catching and energetic qualities.

  • Red eyes: A subtle detail that communicates the “highness” of the character.

  • Breath element: Incorporated to creatively tie back to the strain's name.

The biggest design challenge was ensuring the mascot stayed true to the strain’s identity without becoming overly cartoonish or straying from the brand message.
